Cricket

Although age groups may be combined from time to time, every player has the opportunity to show his mettle in this challenging game of skill and strategy.

Swimming

The first term is the traditional swimming season – it is a short, but busy season, with the contests against other schools ranging from local to provinvial level.

Hockey

Boys’ and girls’ hockey is offered from Primary School to High School level. The level of competition is high and the teams perform well against many larger schools. Individuals are regularly selected for representative district and provincial teams.

Rugby

Although some years see 15-man sides being fielded by the High School, the latest trend is to compete in the 7-a-side league, where the Hermannsburg players have found a competitive spirit.

Athletics

The main focus of athletics is in the third term. The Interhouse meeting is the first highlight, followed by various inter-school meetings, including the Quadrangular and Co-ed meetings. Athletes who excel are afforded the opportunity to compete at zonal and provincial level, and may also attend the KZN and ‘Menlo Park’ meetings during the first term.

Soccer

Soccer has become an increasingly popular sport option and matches against other schools are organised in the third term.

Tennis

This sport is open to all age groups and each term caters for boys and girls wanting to enter the various school leagues.

Volleyball, Handball and Basketball

These sports do not form part of the general sport curriculum, and are usually offered only in preparation for, and participation in, the biennial Sport Olympiade of the Southern African German Schools.

Olympiade Sports
